When Dan and I started talking to professionals about Rendered late last year, we weren't sure what to expect. Would people want to do this -- work at reduced rates for charities and non-profits, alongside their day jobs or in between them?
The answer, it turns out, has been a clear yes.
In the first few months of 2026, we've had conversations with dozens of skilled professionals who want meaningful work, flexible commitment, and the knowledge that their expertise is going somewhere it might not otherwise reach. We now have 35 professionals on the platform, spanning a wide range of backgrounds -- project management, web design, research, strategy, social media and video production, governance, business planning, facilitation, accountancy, grant writing, marketing, and more.
Hearing about people's careers and what motivates them has been one of the most energising parts of this process. We've spoken to so many people who are clearly great at what they do, and are looking for a way to help charitable organisations, without giving up the professional standards and accountability that make work satisfying in the first place.
The next phase is getting Rendered in front of the charities and non-profits who need it. We're in early but promising conversations with sector networks and umbrella bodies about partnerships, and we hope to share news on that soon. In the meantime, we're relying on word of mouth -- if you know an organisation that could benefit, please point them our way.
We're also opening up this Perspectives page to others in our community. If you're a Rendered professional or non-profit that's interested in what we're doing and you'd like to write a short post (500--800 words) about your experience in the workplace, why working with non-profits appeals to you, or what you're hoping to get from the platform -- we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch at hello@rendered.one.
